On Saturday May 7th Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers hosted their Spring Antiques & Fine Art Auction. Bidding was very competitive, a standing room only crowd and online registration numbering over 3,000 participants, generated interest in fifteen countries worldwide. Auction highlights included two oil on canvas paintings by Massachusetts artist Charles Henry Gifford selling for $8,750 and $5,300; originally estimated at $3,00-$5,000 each, a fabulous 19th Century Italian Micro Mosaic estimated at $2,500 – $3,500 sold via phone bidder for $6,875 and a fantastic Native American Arrowhead and Spearhead Grouping estimated at $1,000- $1,500 sold for $3,400;. The true star of the day was an extremely rare pair of European Carolingian Style Bronze Table Lamps estimated at $600-$900 sold for $5,625. These were only a hand full of select lots that crossed the block at Bruneau & Co.’s auction Saturday afternoon. With the next auctions slated for Monday, May 23, 2016 and Saturday, July 23, 2016, both will be a shows not to be missed at their Cranston, RI gallery at 63 Fourth Avenue.
