Here at Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers on Saturday, July, 23rd we hosted our summer antiques and fine arts auction. Our gallery attracted a large in house crowd along with over 3,000 eager bidders online. The top selling lot of the auction was the 1949 Bentley Mark VI breaking its high estimate selling for $26,250. The true standouts of Saturday’s auction included two Romanticist landscapes by Ralph Albert Blakelock selling for $7,500 each, four times more than their original estimates. A large Italian majolica vase also sold for $7,500, three times more than the estimate. A luminous nocturnal seascape by William Trost Richards also soared on the auction block selling for $6,875. The intense bidding action didn’t stop throughout the auction, one of the last lots an Indian Hindu sandstone stele of Vishnu sold for $6,875.

The 515 lot auction lasted just over five hours without a dull moment making it one Bruneau & Co.’s best auctions to date. After all the excitement of July, 23rd, we are eager to announce that our next antique and fine arts auction will be Saturday, September, 24th at noon. We are still accepting quality consignments for our September sale, for more information visit our gallery at 63 Fourth Ave, Cranston, RI, 02910 or call 401-533-9980.
