Hey everyone! This week we’re talking home décor, so let’s discuss Mid Century Modern furniture! Clean lines, geometric designs, curvy futuristic looks, and plastic tables have never looked so cool. Midcentury furniture has a distinctive look that works in many interior designs and home styles, the subtle simplicity with intricate decorative elements brings a touch of modern elegance without being too over the top. Whether you are going for a minimal look with clean lines, or a futuristic look with biomorphic shapes, bright colors, and unique forms, midcentury modern has got you covered! This period of furniture is extremely versatile and easy to incorporate into any home and existing furnishings.
In our next upcoming estate auction here at Bruneau & Co., we have a plethora of midcentury furniture; everything from lamps to couches, so I hope you find something you like! We have a couple pieces from well-known makers that I would like to share with you today. One set we have is a round dining table with two chairs that tuck away neatly underneath the tabletop into designated slots for a seamless look. Each chair features triangular shaped seats that add to the clean look. It is a great space saver for small rooms too! This table was designed by a man named Hans Olsen for Danish company Frem Rojle. Olsen studied at the Danish Royal Academy Furniture School under another notable Danish furniture maker Kaare Klint and began experimenting with different forms and materials. Olsen made a name for himself from his unique designs and worked with many Danish furniture companies during this time including Bramin Mobler, Juul Kristensen, and C. S. Mobler. We also have a Paul McCobb cradenza if you are in the market for extra storage! It features sliding doors that open to four drawers with a small compartment and shelf space to hide away all the stuff you didn’t feel like cleaning before your guests arrive. Paul McCobb was a furniture and textile designer, painter, and industrial designer who opened his own firm in New York called Paul McCobb Design Associates while working as a design and decorating consultant for Martin Feinman’s Modernage Furniture. McCobb had a focus on streamline simplistic furniture pieces, making his work timeless. There is beauty in simplicity, and I do urge you to check out our other upcoming midcentury furniture by both American and Danish companies, you might like what you find! We have a great mix of styles and furniture types so be sure to check us out!
