Hey everyone, it’s Bec, the current record holder for youngest member, elusive backroom dweller, and cataloger at Bruneau & Co. here to do a quick introduction to who I am and what I do! I graduated alongside Travis nearly two years ago now by complete chance. We had been the only members of our graduating class with a major in Art History and by some sheer amount of luck, and many failed attempts at trying to find a job in my field, Travis graciously told me that Bruneau & Co. was looking to hire. Since then, I have been surrounded by so much glass and works of art that I never imagined I would get to hold in my hands. If you have ever visited the auction house, I am just a flash of brightly colored hair in the distance with my eyes glued to a computer screen or with my nose in a file wondering why the sticky note left for me reads “Ha ha good luck.”

What I learned in college is nothing compared to the hands-on experience I have received while working here, but the constant research papers actually came in handy. It may seem shocking to some, but Kevin, Travis, and Joel are not the only ones building catalogs and researching what walks through the doors. Occasionally, we get items that completely stump us and need a little more attention and research or a painting with a signature so illegible that we, meaning me, want to jump back in time, hunt the artist down, and give them a lesson in penmanship. Regardless, watch for posts from yours truly in the future showcasing cool stuff that I learn alongside the Bruneau & Co. pros and in my travels handling the neat things I come across each auction!
